Circular Quay

Although this painting is small it is packed with detail. I have depicted a scene at old Circular Quay, Sydney at around the turn of last century. It is an everyday scene as I imagine it, dry and dusty, and full of the bustle of everyday life, with horses and carts rumbling along the streets, and the ferries going to and fro accross the harbour. I like to paint this era of Australian history, as it was the time during which some of the most enduring imagery of Australian identity was formed. Also it reminds me of an era when life was simpler and more wholesome than it is today.
